Turning from Law to Grace

I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Psalm 16: 8 (NKJV)

The book of Psalms is a beautiful book, composed by various writers (most notably King David), as the Holy Spirit enabled them. They wrote based on human concepts and their understanding of the Law because at that time in history, they could only relate with God through the Law. Our story is different, because through Jesus, we enjoy the grace of God.

The writers had close relationships with God, and as such, they occasionally prophesied as they were given divine utterance. As we embark on this series of “Romancing the Psalms”, the goal is that we build and grow our closeness to the Lord, and that we hear His voice clearly. The Psalms, as with all Scripture, ultimately speak of Jesus Christ (John 5: 39), so when we read them, our prayer and our focus should be to see Jesus.
