"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for the saints”. Ephesians 6:18

What is Prayer?

Prayer is communication with the Father, through the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the words of Billy Graham, prayer is: “...a two-way relationship in which man should not only talk to God but also listen to Him”. Prayer to God is like a child’s conversation with his father- there is a confident, unwavering expectation attached to it.

The Power of Prayer

Prayer moves us from the temporal into the eternal, and from the earthly into the supernatural. It is essential for every believer. Luke 18:7 says: “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him?” In the same way the persistent widow cried out continually for justice, and was granted her desire, when we cry out to God persistently, we can also see a change in our situation, for the better. The woman knew that she had rights, and she used them. Similarly, for us as believers, we should know our rights in Christ, and exercise those rights, in the place of prayer.

You Are Anointed to Pray

Anoint means to smear/paint. Whenever you anoint something, you consecrate it. We are not born of natural things, we are born of the Spirit, which is why we can call God ‘Abba Father’. We are spirit beings, consecrated and anointed by God to pray. Therefore, we should pray day and night, without ceasing. Remember, you are anointed to pray!
