Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12: 2a (NIV)

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.” Isaiah 25: 9 (NIV)

Our passage in Isaiah speaks of the salvation of Jesus, which was still futuristic at the time it was written. In the current times in which we live, Jesus has died, risen and ascended, providing justification and salvation for all who put their faith in Him. Therefore, when the news is filled with horrible stories about insecurity, inflation and diseases like the novel coronavirus, believers can boldly say, “surely, God is my God; I trust Him and He saves me… I rejoice and I am glad in His salvation!” Indeed, God’s saving power is at work on behalf of His children.

All who believe in Jesus are “kingdom people”. We are the ones that Jesus referred to in the blessings He gave in Matthew 5, and we are the ones that He has placed to be salt and light in the earth, as Christ carries out the service of God’s kingdom through us. However, the devil’s aim is to distract believers so that our minds and expectations are shaped according to the perversions, deceptions and standards of the world. His goal is that believers no longer offer God their worship and attention.

Nevertheless, if we keep drawing from Jesus Who is our source and the fountain of our salvation, we will experience the continuous transformation that makes us bear fruit to God’s glory. And because we know our God, we will be strong and do great exploits! (Daniel 11: 32).
