Maximising Life through our Communion with God

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me….” John 17: 20 - 21 (NIV)

As believers, we have received the truth of the triune God (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) and the divine unity, alignment and communion within the Godhead. Even though Jesus is fully God in human form, the Scriptures show the depth of His communion with God the Father, as indivisible Persons. From John 13 to John 17, Jesus preached a long sermon to His disciples and to all future believers, in which He assured the disciples that once they had seen Him, they had simultaneously seen the Father, because Jesus is one with the Father (John 14: 9- 11).

In our foundation Scripture, Jesus was preparing for His death on the cross and for His physical exit from the world, when He spoke to His disciples and prayed for them. His ultimate prayer and clear heartbeat was for His disciples and all believers to share intimate communion with God, in the same way that the Godhead is in intimate, indivisible communion. Now that Jesus has welcomed us into fellowship with God through His blood, it is our responsibility to develop this communion with God. When we keep our minds on Him and stay in communion with Him, we effortlessly receive His wisdom to address life’s challenges.
