“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18

“The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16b

Powerlessness in the Church

A sign of a powerless church is the inability to endure sound doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:4 says: “And they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Quick Question: Have you noticed the measure of powerlessness in the church today?

“The measure of powerlessness in the body of Christ is proportional to the measure of the world in the membership, and the corporate life of the church”.

Another quick question: When was the last time that our corporate prayer and your individual prayer was praying against the method of the world, that has made our churches powerless?

Practical things that we should arm ourselves with:
1. Make prayer a habit- develop a lifestyle of prayer: Daniel 6:10
2. Pray everywhere: 1 Timothy 2:8
3. Pray in the morning: Psalm 5:3
4. Pray at noon: Psalm 55:17
5. Pray all night: Acts 16:25; Luke 6:12

Try this:

When you see something that you don’t like, rather than complain, why not pray about it? If someone comes to mind, pray over them. Stop using your human reasoning when praying. Instead, pray from a spiritual point of view.

When you pray in the Spirit, pray to God who is Spirit, and know that by faith, your prayer transcends the natural, because you are praying to an eternal God. Persevere in the place of prayer.
