The Birth of Christ is Significant for You!

Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Luke 2: 11 (NIV)

Our main text talks about the birth of Jesus, and the text uses three notable words to describe His Divine Person: Saviour, Christ and Lord. Each of these three words are significant for our lives:

Saviour is the Greek word “Soter”, which means deliverer and preserver.

Christ is the Greek word “Christos”, and it means anointed one, and messiah.

Lord is the Greek word “Kurios”, which means lord and master.

Christmas is a reminder that Jesus is indeed Saviour, Christ and Lord, and is worthy of our worship and adoration! The birth of Jesus fulfilled several Scripture prophecies that had been given over a thousand years before He was born! Jesus became our Saviour, Christ and Lord before His birth, because He existed before He was physically born on earth. This is why His birth is significant for each of us. When we hear this good news, we must embrace Jesus, and enthrone Him in our hearts as Saviour, Christ and Lord!
