His purpose was to create in Himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace…. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household Ephesians 2: 15b and 19 (NIV)

It is important for us to understand that the gift of grace accomplishes a work in the life of every believer, and this work of grace produces the goal that God wants. Paul refers to this as the mystery of Christ’s work- in that He has made a brand new type of human that includes people from various backgrounds. In other words, those who believe in Jesus are now part of one Body - His Body.

This new type of human was fore-shadowed in Zechariah 3, when God directed an angel to remove Joshua’s filthy garments and clothe him with rich, new robes. In our new nature, the more we allow the gift of grace to apply the work of grace in our lives, the more it will transform us and carry out the goal of grace.

Practically, this means allowing the Holy Spirit to regulate us in our daily lives, and this brings glory to God.
